Photo taken from the edge of the crater lake inside Gunung Rinjani. Sadly both the summit of Rinjani and lakeside were technically closed when I visited due to the pictured chap above being a bit too active. Fortunately, and as anyone who knows me can testify too, I’ve never been one to follow rules anyway and after an aborted attempt to climb the summit (due to inappropriate footwear) I managed to sneak down to the lakeside for a night under the stars in one of the most beautiful and relaxing places I can remember visiting. Also very photogenic so expect to see a few more of this place pop up in future uploads.

This is my first posting since getting back from my 3 1/2 month trip round indo. My first thought was I should post something that is a nice representation of a typical indonesian scene, (namely water+island+boat… have plenty of these!). However though I felt and still suspect my photography greatly improved over the trip I would have to say my confidence in selection and editing of my photos is pretty low at the moment. Hence this one going up first as it’s one of the few I’m confident enough with the content and editing right now.
If you would like to critique my photos in any way positive or (perhaps more valueably) negative i would be greatly appreciative as though i’m unlikely to treat your opinions as gospel it will likely help me learn. and please dont be afraid of appearing unnecesarily harsh. (put it in a flickr mail if you want!)

article and a year after that some chaps used it for both the Davao city and
Philippines article. It’s also been used on Mount Apo articles in other
languages.
At the first plan are not so tropical types of vegetation, the climate is
pretty cool in the place where this picture was taken.

An early morning shot of Mt. Mayon’s summit. High altitude winds and turbulence pushed Mt. Mayon’s smoke down its southern slope. This almost perfect cone volcano is currently one of the candidates for the world’s seven wonders. This is the most active volcano in the Philippines.
Legaspi City
Albay, Philippines
Explored on February 22nd, 2012.
Luckily, the conditions were almost identical the next morning.
By the way, we hiked this volcano two days earlier. Pretty cool to see it from a totally different perspective.

This crater is a large lake with a bluish-green mist and smoke of the sulfur that is stunning. In addition, cold air with temperatures 10° Celsius, the temperature might reach 2° Celsius will increase the sensation of its own experience. Various plants that exist only in the highlands can also be found here, such as Edelweis Flowers and Pine.
From my recent trip to Bromo and Ijen Volcano, East Java.
The best time to start hiking is in the early morning, around 3 or 4 AM. You will be just on time to watch beautiful sunrise peeping through the mountain tops. At 2 PM, the access to the crater is closed due to heavy white sulfuric smoke that makes hiking impossible.
I wish to comeback again to Ijen very soon. This place is incredible! I LOVE Ijen :)
